The Unsinkable Ship and Halifax
The world was stunned in 1912 by the loss of the liner Titanic on her maiden voyage. Halifax played a key role during the tragedy's aftermath, helping to recover bodies and identify the victims. Halifax became the final resting place of many of Titanic’s unclaimed victims. As worldwide celebrations for the Titanic’s 100th anniversary are planned for 2012, Halifax continues to draw visitors fascinated by the ship’s tragic history.
Nova Scotia wine industry continues to gain acclaim
Nova Scotia wineries continue to win international awards, and two annual festivals celebrate the unique wines of the region. In February, the Nova Scotia Ice Wine Festival offers tasting, pairing and an ‘icebar’ and the Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival in September and October features winery tours, grape stomps and wine pairing dinners.
